Hey. Hi. Hello.
Welcome to A SHOT podcast. I’m your host and interviewer Aaron Richter. Every episode of this show, I ask a photographer to pick one of their images to discuss in depth. The only guideline I give is that the photo shouldn’t be “the” shot but simply “a” shot, and they’re open to interpret that however they want. My intention is to discourage the pressure of picking the absolute best, finest, career-defining work but just to focus more on something each artist might be interested in at the moment. It could be a photo that has significant meaning to them, or even something they don’t really understand and want to figure out why. Maybe it’s just something they’re feeling particularly proud of that day.
As photographers, we often watch our work get digested too quickly. We post, collect likes and within days or even hours, the endless stream of work is on to whatever’s next. A SHOT podcast is a vehicle to slow down and narrow our focus, something that forces us to regard one single creation for a bit more time than we usually allow ourselves. In conversations that tap into these artists’ passion, creativity and drive, we reveal the stories behind each photo, tug at the themes within it and really just overanalyze the hell out of that one single shot.
You’ll notice that donate button at the top of this page. Hosting this podcast is a lot of work and comes with a handful of costs. I’ll never ask you for much, but If you like what you hear, please consider donating to help keep A SHOT going. Donations are the only way I’m able to continue making new episodes, so anything you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks, and enjoy the show. — AR
